Changing The Guard is a book written to promote awareness of our current political situation. It is about a coup d'etat of the American Presidency and all of Congress. It is written in a non-violent format that promotes citizen involvement using their intellect instead of muscle. This is not a story of guns blazing and politicians dying, although that may be interesting, it is not the story I was trying to write about.
The purpose of writing this book was to make the average citizen and voter research their candidates and their policies. Because someone appears to be a nice guy does not mean they will represent a person's best interest when in office. Too many times our politicians are in it solely for the great amount of money they can make from special interest groups.
President George W. Bush owns a copy and I believe that everyone should too. It is a book of awareness of our current day situations and highlights the foundation of what our fore-fathers wanted our country to represent to protect its' citizens. It is available at Amazon.com and is currently in stock.

Greatest Military in the World
America does have the greatest, strongest, and most loyal military in the world. No one can dispute that fact. Here again our military is called to help in Haiti. But the assests there are being hindered by political crap. Haiti's government is basically dissolved. It is in truley bad shape and was in bad shape before the tragic earthquake. We take over countries and force democracy on the citizens of that country that may or may not want it, but we cannot feed small kids in Haiti. We take over mountaintops in foriegn countries and mount overwhelming forces to fight an enemy that is dug in to a hillside that is almost impassable. But we cannot fly a chopper 15 miles from the earthquake to feed babies. No it is not our military that is the failure. It is the political crap that allows our military to again sit on their hands and watch as people suffer and die. When is this going to end. Since we are so good at taking over coutries, Haiti is one we should take over from the non-functioning government and restore order and get the humanitarian efforts going. We have the Carl Vincent naval carrier located 10 miles off of the coast of Haiti with a medical staff of 52 people. They have no patients because they are not allowed to go get people in need but have to wait for word from the ground. We do not want to upset any country that might fear that we are going to permently take over another country, so we just let children die from starvation. We could do both. One part could help rebuild the government of Haiti with the help of any other country that wants a challenge and take over the situation on the ground. And of course when this tragedy is over then we can let the government of Haiti take over, hopefully in better shape than it was before the earthquake. But our politicians fear how it will look to other countries, and God knows that our status in the world and the way that others look at us is more important than human lives. I say grab General Russel Honore out of retirement and put him in charge of the disaster of Haiti. He performed great during Katrina and showed that he can get the job done. With the thinking of waiting for the people on the ground to send or ask our military for help, what will happen when the hospitol ship arrives? Will they anchor along side the Carl Vincent and sit idle or will they be allowed to start treating people in need? I watch the CNN medical correspondent Sanjay Gupta who is a surgeon and has operated on our soldiers in the fields of battle, look like a whipped puppy. He was treating children without gloves and protective gear in a country that has a terrible AIDS problem with no fear for himself. I really want to hear what he has to say when this is all over with. He had disappointment tatooed all over his face during some of his interviews. The reporters from CNN and Fox News seem to find more people than the rescurers have. But we are limited in information due to the reporting of these two organizations. All I can say is that there is too much suffering of the innocent while we play the political game. Let our military go in and take care of the mission of taking care of people and restoring order, and then we can deal with the problems from that later. Who knows. It might make a difference at the voting booth. We all know that is the priority of our government at this time in history. I am not one that likes to strut our power on other countries but sometimes it is necessary. Each hour we stall and play the political game people die. Each day people are starving and thier anger grows, we soon will have a violent situation that will end with even a greater loss of life, and some may be our citizens there helping. The strange thing about our government's thinking is that the people and countries that we are trying not to upset, are countries that don't care. They want to kill us anyway.

I am Confused
This last week we have seen another natural disaster in a small country that does not have the means to take care of themselves. So America does what it does best and heads to Haiti to attempt to rescue them, and we should because we have the ability and the means and those people need help. As Americans, for the most part, do have a good heart and are willing to help those in need whenever needed. Now that is where the confusion comes in. We travel across the oceans to poor nations and give aid, money, boots on the ground for help, medical attention, and in some cases we rebuild the damaged area. But here in the United States we have our own problem, our own people that are in great need of help, and we do the opposite. I am talking about some of our homeless. Cities, counties, and states have implimented laws and ordinances that restrict help of these people. Many areas restrict churches and non-profit agencies to limit the amount of people that can be housed and fed. I do understand that cities do not want to be seen as a place that is filled with homeless people walking the streets. But to enact a law that keeps places from feeding people that are hungry is not the American way. If we can take over nations and establish a domocratic society on the people of that country, then why can't we come up with a plan to feed these people. Many would work for it if they had the chance to. Some would prefer not to. And the sad part is, many are veterans. Veterans of wars, mostly unpopular ones, who sacrificed their lives and many who walk the streets do so because that is how they came back from a war that they chose to fight in, for the very freedoms that the people making these laws to not feed them enjoy everyday by having the freedom to do as they please. I have been told that the homeless do not vote. There are documented reports of sick and injured homeless being hauled out to rural areas after treatment at hospitols so that they do not become a burden financially to the city and medical establishments where they live. Is it double standards or what? I am confused. But when you donate money to an organization to help a foreign disaster, give some to local places that feed these people, or when they are standing on the corner, give them a dollar. Better yet, give them a job if they want one.

It is Time to take Charge
Everyday we wake up and a new challenge faces the American people. For decades our generation has mainly sat back and let our elected officials protect our values and run our lives. Well we screwed up by doing that didn't we? The average American trusted the politicians that we voted for, if we voted, and it is now biting us right in the ass. Politics should be advertised as a job that can make you rich very fast as long as sell your soul like a whore on the street. Now our laziness has gotten us into a big mess and we have to deal with it. Now we have to get involved. To do this we may have to delay our golf game, or take a later lunch with the girls, or do something that will change our daily routine in order to contact our officials and express our feelings. What a pain in the butt. We as Americans have to get involved in the decision making of our country before we will be required to speak Chinese or maybe even Arabic. For those of you that think that what I am saying is exaggerated needs to pay better attention to what is going on. We used to just turn on the daily news and get the Facts but our news agencies do not report the facts as they used to. They are politically motivated and some receive additional funds for their left wing news reporting. It is called selective news casts. The news agencies are reporting things that someone decided you should hear and not the truth. With this information then you must do independent research and not trust the typical news reports. Oh, crap. That means that I have to alter my day even more just to stay current on what is happening in our country. Our we can continue the way things are and lose everything that we have known as freedom. Remember freedom. The right to do what you want when you want to. Pay attention. It is slowing coming to an end. Get a copy of Changing The Guard at your favorite bookstore. It will make you more aware of your surroundings.
